Web design in Preston.
Wholesale, coffee and the PR postcodes.

Preston is the top of our regular travel radius and the Lancashire work we do there leans wholesale and hospitality supply — the businesses selling to other businesses rather than to the public. It is an hour up the M61, which is close enough that we still come out for installs and launches and far enough that we plan the visits rather than dropping in.

Supplying the trade, as a system

The Lancashire supply businesses we work with share the same four unglamorous requirements.

Standing orders

The same delivery every week unless somebody changes it. This is the feature that makes a portal stick, because it removes an order rather than digitising one.

A route and a day

Trade delivery runs on a schedule, not a courier. The system has to know that a customer on the Tuesday run cannot order for Wednesday, and say so at the point of ordering.

Credit and the stop list

Terms per account, a limit, and an account that goes on stop automatically rather than after a conversation nobody had.

Statements, not just invoices

A monthly statement per account is what gets a wholesale customer to pay. Most bespoke portals ship without one.

How a build an hour away actually works

  • Planned visits, not ad-hoc Kick-off, a mid-build session on the real screens, install day and launch. Four visits named in the quote rather than an open promise to pop in.
  • Hardware arrives configured Printers and terminals set up on our bench and tested before they travel, so install day is plugging in rather than diagnosing.
  • Everything else on video Which is genuinely better for the parts where we are both looking at the same screen.

When we are the wrong firm for this

If being able to get a developer in the building within the hour is a hard requirement — and for some operations it genuinely is — Preston has firms who can do that and we cannot. We are an hour away in traffic that is sometimes much worse than an hour. Say so early and we will tell you honestly whether the build has enough on-site work in it for that to matter.

For a wholesale portal, it rarely does. For a kitchen full of hardware on a Friday night, it might.

Questions

Before you ask.

Will you travel to Preston?

Yes. It is about an hour and the visits are named in the quote — kick-off, a mid-build review on the real screens, install day and launch — rather than left as a vague promise.

Can trade customers place standing orders?

Yes, and it is usually the feature that makes the portal get used: the same order every week unless somebody changes it, with the delivery day enforced by the round rather than chosen freely.

Can accounts go on stop automatically?

Yes. Credit limit and terms per account, with the stop applied by the system rather than depending on somebody noticing.
