Web design in Blackburn.
Food production, coffee and the BB postcodes.
Blackburn and the BB postcodes come to us mostly through food: production, coffee, and businesses supplying a trade that stretches a long way beyond Lancashire. The pattern we see here more than anywhere else is a business whose product is already selling nationally through other people, and whose own channel is an afterthought.
Start a projectOwning the channel when somebody else sells your product
If a distributor, an aggregator or a marketplace is between you and the customer, these are the four things you do not have and should.
The customer’s details
Whoever holds the email address holds the relationship. A direct channel, however small, is the only way to find out who your repeat buyers are.
The real margin
The list rates for UK aggregators are published and they are large. The same arithmetic applies to a distributor taking a cut: worth putting on paper annually rather than assuming.
A price you set
Prices inflated to cover somebody else’s commission make your own channel look expensive. We build from your real prices, not from what the marketplace shows.
Somewhere to put the thing that is not on the marketplace
A new line, a bundle, a seasonal item. Your own channel is where you can test before asking a buyer to list it.

Production, before the shop
- Batch and shelf life If the product has a date on it, the system needs batches, not just stock. Retrofitting that later means re-counting everything.
- Allergens with the recipe Held against the product so the website, the label and the trade sheet cannot disagree. Prepacked-for-direct-sale rules have their own requirements.
- Labels that print from the system Not retyped into a label printer by somebody reading a screen.

When we are the wrong firm for this
If your whole business is one big trade customer, a direct channel is a nice-to-have and the honest advice is to put the money into production capacity instead. And if you need full food-manufacturing traceability for an audit — batch genealogy, supplier lot tracking, recall simulation — that is a specialist product category and we would be the wrong people to improvise it.
We build the ordering, the portal and the production screens around what you make. We do not build the compliance system for a factory floor.
Before you ask.
We sell through distributors. Why would we need our own site?
Can the system handle batches and shelf life?
