Web design for London.
Built in Manchester, which is the point.

We are not a London studio and this page is not going to pretend otherwise. We build for London businesses from Greater Manchester, which means two real things: the rate is a northern rate, and anything with hardware in it needs a plan rather than a van. Most of the London work that comes to us is multi-site — a brand with three or six branches whose systems were built one branch at a time.

The multi-site problem, which is the London problem

A brand with six branches almost always has six of everything. These are the four places that costs real money.

Six menus that should be one

One menu with per-branch overrides — price, availability, opening hours — rather than six independent copies. A price change becomes one edit instead of six, and the six never silently disagree again.

Stock that is per branch, reporting that is not

Each branch counts its own stock; the owner wants one view across all of them. Those are different data shapes and building the first without the second is the usual mistake.

A customer who is yours, not the branch’s

Loyalty, accounts and order history belong to the brand. A customer who collects stamps in Shoreditch should spend them in Peckham, and most branch-built systems cannot do that at all.

Commission, six times over

Aggregator exposure multiplies with branches and so does the saving from a direct channel. The list rates are published; the arithmetic is worth doing per branch, because it is rarely the same in each.

How a remote build actually works, step by step

This is the honest method. It is the same for every city on this list and it is the thing to judge us on.

  • Kick-off on video, with your real data Not a discovery workshop. We want a menu, a price list, a spreadsheet, last month’s orders — the actual material, on screen, in the first hour.
  • You watch it being built A live preview URL from week one, updated as we go, so the first time you see it is not the week before launch.
  • Hardware ships configured Printers, terminals and kiosks are set up and tested on our bench, labelled, and sent so that install is plugging in. The alternative — a box arriving for somebody to configure over the phone — is where remote builds fail.
  • One visit, where it earns its cost For a hardware launch we come down. It is in the quote, named, rather than offered vaguely.
  • Thirty days on call after launch Included. London hours, not Manchester hours, for that month.

What London charges for, and what we do not

  • The rate difference is real and it is not a trick Our costs are in Greater Manchester. We are not undercutting a London studio by cutting the build; we have a different rent.
  • What you lose Somebody who can be in your office by eleven. For a six-month platform build that matters less than it sounds; for an operations team that needs a person on site weekly, it matters a lot.
  • What you should ask us Which named visits are in the quote, who answers the phone after launch, and who holds the hosting accounts. Those three answers tell you more than a portfolio.

When we are the wrong firm for this

If you need a developer in the room regularly, hire in London. If you are venture-funded and need a team of eight by next quarter, hire in London. If your procurement requires a supplier with an office in the capital, we will not qualify and we would rather you knew in the first ten minutes than the third meeting.

We are the right call when the work is a defined system, the budget matters, and you would rather pay for the build than the postcode.

Questions

Before you ask.

Can you build for a London business from Manchester?

Yes, and most of our London work is multi-site systems. Kick-off and reviews happen on video, you get a live preview from week one, hardware arrives pre-configured and tested, and a launch visit is named in the quote where there is hardware to commission.

Are you cheaper than a London agency?

Usually, because our costs are in Greater Manchester rather than the capital. The build is not smaller — the rent is. What you give up is having somebody able to walk into your office, which matters for some projects and not for others.

Can one system run six branches?

That is what it should do: one menu with per-branch overrides, stock per branch, reporting across all of them, and one customer record for the brand rather than six. Retrofitting that onto branch-by-branch systems is most of the work we are asked to do for London groups.
