Web design for Leicester.
Where we already run one of these.

Leicester is the one city on this list outside Greater Manchester where we build and host a live trading platform. Without naming the client, it is a frozen food business selling retail and wholesale from one system: a shop with real delivery rules, a trade portal with its own invoicing, gift cards, pre-orders, workshops and a loyalty card in Apple Wallet. If you run a Leicester food business, that is the closest thing we have to your brief.

What that platform actually does

Named here because it is the clearest answer to "have you built anything like mine". The client is not named; the features are real and live.

Delivery rules that match the product

Standard, express and chosen-date delivery, a minimum order that differs by postcode area, free delivery above a threshold and a cap on the delivery charge. Frozen goods make every one of those necessary rather than nice.

A trade portal inside the same shop

Trade login, wholesale invoicing with its own numbering, card payment up to a limit and a pro forma above it. One system, two customer types, one stock count.

Pack sizes rather than duplicate products

One product sold by several pack sizes, each with its own price, drawing on one stock figure. The alternative is three products that never reconcile.

Loyalty in Wallet, scanned in store

An Apple Wallet pass with push updates, and a QR scan at the counter so the card works in the shop rather than only online.

Pre-orders, gift cards and workshops

Because a food business’s revenue is not only the shop, and each of those is a different payment shape.

What we learned building it that you would benefit from

  • The minimum order is the whole model Set it too low and every parcel loses money on packaging; too high and the basket is abandoned. It has to be editable by the owner, by postcode, without ringing us.
  • One database for live and development is a mistake We know, because that build has one, and it means a local change writes to real data. If we started it today it would be two.
  • Payments onboarding takes longer than the build Live card processing for a business taking payments on behalf of itself needs identity and bank verification, and it is the thing most likely to delay a launch date.

When we are the wrong firm for this

If you are a Leicester business wanting a brochure site, the drive and the video calls are not worth your money and a local firm will serve you better. We are worth the distance when the build is a trading system — shop, trade, payments, loyalty, stock — because that is specialist work and the remoteness stops mattering once the hardware is out of the picture.

Ask us for the live platform and go and use it. It is the fastest way to decide about us.

Questions

Before you ask.

Have you built anything in Leicester?

Yes — we build and host a live retail and wholesale food platform for a Leicester business. They have not agreed to be named, so they are not, but the features are real and we will walk you through the live system.

Can one site sell retail and wholesale?

Yes, and we run one that does: a trade login with its own prices and invoicing, card up to a limit with a pro forma above it, and one stock count underneath both.

How long does payments onboarding take?

Longer than people plan for. Live card processing requires identity and bank verification, and it is the single most common reason a launch date slips, so we start it at the beginning of the build rather than the end.

Tell us what you need. We will scope it, price it and build it.
