Web design for Singapore.
With the InvoiceNow dates in the plan.

Singapore has the most clearly published invoicing timetable of anywhere we build for, and unusually it runs forward rather than backward: the GST InvoiceNow requirement reaches all GST-registered businesses by April 2031, phased from April 2028. That is a long enough runway that a system being built now should be built to meet it rather than retrofitted twice.

The InvoiceNow timetable, from IRAS

Read from the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore on 31 October 2026. The authority’s own landing page carries an older date in one place, which is worth knowing if you are reading around.

The phases for existing businesses

1 April 2028 for new compulsory GST registrants and existing businesses with annual supplies of S$200,000 or less; 1 April 2029 at S$1 million or less; 1 April 2030 at S$4 million or less; 1 April 2031 above S$4 million.

New registrants are already in

Newly incorporated companies registering for GST voluntarily have had the obligation since 1 November 2025, and all new voluntary registrants since 1 April 2026. If you are incorporating now, this is not a future requirement.

The mechanics

Choose an InvoiceNow-Ready solution, or an accredited Access Point provider for an in-house system; register your UEN in the SG Peppol Directory to get a Peppol ID; switch on GST submission. Those are three separate steps and the second one is the one people forget.

It does not replace your records

Submitting invoice data does not remove the duty to keep GST records or to file returns. A system that treats transmission as filing has misunderstood the requirement.

Building on Peppol rather than around it

  • Structured invoices from the start If the invoice has to become a structured document eventually, generate it as structured data now and render the human-readable version from that. The reverse order is the expensive one.
  • A grant exists for early movers IRAS publishes a grant of up to S$5,000 for early adoption. Worth checking against your own position before deciding to wait.
  • Eight hours ahead Your afternoon is our morning. We commit to a stated overlap rather than implying availability around the clock.

When we are the wrong firm for this

If your only requirement is InvoiceNow compliance, buy a listed InvoiceNow-Ready accounting product; it is cheaper, supported and already accredited. We are not an Access Point provider and will not claim accreditation we do not hold. And if you need a Singapore-registered supplier or data residency, we will not qualify as the contracting party.

We are useful when you are building an operational system that will have to speak Peppol as one of the things it does.

Questions

Before you ask.

When does InvoiceNow apply to us?

IRAS has published the phases: 1 April 2028 for existing businesses with supplies of S$200,000 or less, 2029 at S$1 million or less, 2030 at S$4 million or less and 2031 above that. New voluntary GST registrants are already in scope — since November 2025 for newly incorporated companies and April 2026 for all new voluntary registrants.

Are you an accredited Access Point?

No, and we will not claim accreditation we do not hold. If compliance is your whole requirement, buy a listed InvoiceNow-Ready product. We build the operational system that connects to one.

Should we move early?

Possibly — IRAS publishes a grant of up to S$5,000 for early adopters, and generating structured invoices from the start is cheaper than converting a system that produces PDFs. Check the grant against your own position rather than taking our word for it.
