Comparisons

The platforms we get asked about,
including when they beat us.

Three comparisons covering the platforms we are asked about most: Just Eat, Uber Eats and Deliveroo on the aggregator side; Flipdish and Hungrrr on the white-label ordering side; Epos Now and Square on tills. Every figure is either published by the company itself or stated plainly as unpublished, and each page names the cases where the other side is the better buy. A comparison that cannot do that is an advert.

Questions

About these comparisons.

Why do some rates say "not published"?

Because they are not. Uber Eats publishes a UK list rate: 30% excluding VAT for its own delivery and 13% for self-delivery and pickup. Just Eat and Deliveroo negotiate per restaurant and publish nothing, so putting a number against them would be a guess dressed up as a fact.

Do you ever recommend the other option?

Yes, and each page says when. A subscription till is the better buy for a single site that wants somebody else to own the hardware risk. The aggregators are worth paying for discovery you cannot buy any other way. Those cases are written down rather than left out.

How current are the figures?

Each page carries the date its figures were last checked against the company’s own published pricing. Where a figure has moved since, the date tells you that before the number does.

Want the comparison for your own numbers?

Tell us what you run now and we will work it out against your real orders, including when the answer is to stay where you are.
